Hello! Welcome to my portfolio.
My name is McKenna Walsh and I am studying my third and final year of Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education at University of Mary. I am from Menifee, California, and I have two brothers and one sister. My family is extremely important to me, as they are my entire support system. My mom has been teaching kindergarten for over 20 years; she is my biggest inspiration and supporter. Like most aspiring teachers, I love children. I fell in love with them when I was in high school assisting in teaching horseback riding lessons. I enjoyed watching the students make connections and realizing that they learn best through what they are passionate about. I believe it is incredibly important to foster a love for learning by intertwining standards and curriculum with students' interests. Shortly after I moved to Bismarck, I was hired as a Youth Leader for MREC at Lincoln Elementary. Through this experience I was blessed with the opportunity to work with some amazing students grades kindergarten through fifth daily. I also began working as a substitute instructional aide. This experience helped me discover my love for working with students with special needs. Each and every student I have worked with has touched my heart in a special way and has helped shaped the teacher I want to be. Thank you for taking the time to look through this. Please contact me if you have any questions. |
